Product specification
The Philips 13BDL4150IW/00 is a 13-inch professional e-paper display. The 13-inch format establishes the visual scale and wall space to allow for when planning the installation. It supports landscape and portrait mounting and uses a 100 x 100 mm VESA fixing pattern, helping you check the proposed installation before ordering.
Buying checks
- Weight and dimensions require confirmation: Manufacturer documents give different set weights (1.3 kg and 0.98 kg) and depths (31.66 mm and 31.6 mm), without establishing a different physical configuration. Obtain the applicable manufacturer dimensions and handling weight before selecting a mount or planning clearances.
- Power supply and update consumption: The leaflet and supplied-adapter section specify 20 V/2.25 A, but the manual’s specification table gives 15 V/2 A. Confirm the correct supply; use the supplied adapter, not a guessed replacement. Static image retention without continuous power does not mean updates or network functions use no power. The manual’s 4 W is an average during picture updates only; standby/off is below 0.5 W and AC switch-off is 0 W. PoE requires IEEE 802.3bt, not an unspecified PoE injector.
- Environmental limits require confirmation: Both documents specify 15–35 °C operation, but relative humidity differs (20–80% in the leaflet; 30–80% non-condensing in the manual), as does storage temperature (−20–60 °C versus −25–50 °C). The manual also specifies 5–95% non-condensing storage humidity, 0–65 °C operating glass surface temperature and storage/shipment altitude up to 9,000 m. Its installation text prohibits 3,000 m and above despite the tables listing 0–3,000 m operation. Confirm the applicable limits rather than combining them into a new rating.
- Image geometry: The leaflet gives a 4:3, 1600 × 1200 panel; the manual also gives 1600 × 1200 pixels but labels the aspect ratio 16:9. That aspect-ratio label is inconsistent and needs manufacturer clarification. For the local picture application, the manual specifies 1600 × 1200 landscape or 1200 × 1600 portrait artwork; larger images downscale but smaller images retain their size. Its 0°/180° picture rotation setting is not evidence of unrestricted physical mounting or 90° media rotation.
- Readability is not outdoor permission: Sunlight readability does not establish weather resistance or permission for direct-sun installation. The manual requires a dry, ventilated location away from direct sunlight, heat, oil and moisture; do not install in a kitchen, bathroom or wet location. Its 5 GHz radio use is indoor-only, with at least 20 cm separation from the body. The Wi-Fi placement guidance requires at least 1.2 m from nearby metal obstructions; plan the network location accordingly.
- Static images still need refresh and careful handling: Power-free image retention does not mean an image should remain unchanged indefinitely: the manual recommends refreshing at least once every 48 hours, with alternating black/white images if ghosting occurs. Colour changes across 15–19, 20–29 and 30–35 °C are noted. The thin ePaper surface is vulnerable to point pressure and impact; screen breakage and after-image symptoms are excluded from the stated warranty. Disconnect before cleaning or moving, use a soft lint-free cloth and avoid solvents, oil, excess liquid and abrasive pressure; servicing and RTC-battery access are for authorised service personnel, not users.
